My name is Meg, and I have an addiction

On in the morning
I promise just a minute
But lose track of time

Feed the kids later
Too many blogs to read now
I'm addicted right?

Jennifer over at Playgroups Are No Place for Children asked us to fess up in the form of a Haiku about our internet addictions. There's just so many Haiku type things that I can write out, so instead you get just two and then a blah blah blah from me.

I hadn't really thought about how addicted to this stuff I was until tonight. But sadly it's true. My spawn are woefully neglected as I go from blog to blog reading the ramblings and musings of my fellow bloggers. Breakfast turns into brunch turns into lupper. The spawn become restless and start gnawing on chair legs in the hopes that I will notice between webpages that they are becoming increasingly malnourished. I promise that I'll be just one more minute, which turns into 10 and then an hour later I realise that Ash should have been at school yesterday. The laundry mountain regrows and laughs at me. How silly that I would think I had conquered it. It knows my addiction better than I know myself.

Some people drink, some do drugs. I do blogs. I am a blogoholic. I don't know that there is a 12 step program for people like me yet, and if there was I fear I may be tempted to tell the organisers to ram it into their hard drive if they so much as suggested that I attend a meeting. Like, hello? Attending a meeting would cut into my blog reading, internet surfing, spawn ignoring time. And then what would I do with myself?

To think I might actually be required to interact with the human beings that populate the real world is a scary option. Hotty Hubby and a few dear friends aside, I am rather comfortable in my own little world. Colour it purple and plant a sun in the sky and I am a happy camper.

I am slowly trying to wean myself from the hours upon hours of computer time. This is not something that can be treated like a Band Aid and just be ripped off. To try that might garner a punch in the head and a breaking of your mouse.

Addiction to the Internet. It's a pandemic in the making. Good luck to you all. I know you all share my world. Is it sunny in your part too?

It's easier for me to interact with the Internet than real life. Sad, but true.

Hmmmm . . . maybe we need to start a support group for those of us who are addicted to the internet?

Dude! This is nuts. I just walked upstairs from an argument with my boyfriend about how I'm "obsessed" with the blogosphere. No joke! In fact, I have to type fast before he busts me. Read you Monday!

I am completely addicted too! It's sad...really sad. But I have no real desire to change!

My wife caught me on my blackberry yesterday at one point and exclaimed: "You're not tweeting, are you?!?"

Sheesh. I was looking up directions to a farm we were taking my daughter.

I tweeted a few minutes earlier.

I feel you, sister! What started out as an innocent way to keep my out of state family up to date on my daughter has turned into a full blown obsession. I like to think that asking how many blogs a person follows is like asking how much a woman weighs or how many people she's slept with. NOBODY gives the right number. But mark down one more for me - just discovered you and love your blog!!

Oh yes. I have this addiction too. I tried to wean my kids off TV for the summer, but then I realized, "What are they going to do while I'm on the computer?" Heh.

I started on here 2 hours ago with the intent of just writing a quick post. Yeah. Quick post and twelve other blog reads later and I'm still here... You are not alone.

Yes, my house used to be very clean and orderly. Now the baby chews on old beans and cat hair from the floor, but at least I'm up to date on my BLOGS!

The "worst" part is - there is no end in sight because I'm constantly discovering AWESOME NEW BLOGS!

Thanks for visiting Sweet Life, by the way!
